Eunice rallies past Panthers for 3-A championship

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor NEW ORLEANS – The clock was nearing midnight but the loud crowd was just getting started as a sea of green and white screamed “EHS, EHS, EHS” as the Bobcats captured the Class 3-A state title Friday night at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

No. 2 Eunice to face No. 4 Panthers in Class 3-A title game

The run to the championship game for the Bobcats has been an impressive turnaround from the 5-6 finish in 2017. “This has been a great season,” EHS head coach Paul Trosclair said. “We are playing good football.

Bobcats’ fourth Dome trip

The Bobcat faithful will fill their side of the Superdome in New Orleans Friday night when Eunice faces Sterlington for the Class 3-A championship. This is the fourth trip for the Bobcats and Eunice (12-2) is designated as the the home team against the Panthers (12-2).

Deshotel reflects on playing days

NEW ORLEANS – It has been 20 years since Ryan Deshotel touched the turf of the Louisiana Superdome. Friday, Deshotel will be coaching on the sidelines as Eunice takes on Sterlington for the Class 3-A state championship.

Bobcats are Dome-bound

The local fans wanted a rematch between No. 1 Iota and No. 2 Eunice in the Class 3-A state championship. But that won’t happen as Eunice rolled to a 19-0 win over No. 3 Kaplan and No. 4 Sterlington stunned Iota as the Panthers grabbed a 21-12 win over the Bulldogs.

Bobcats to battle Pirates in Class 3-A semifinals

It was 1997 and 1998 the last times the Eunice Bobcats advanced to the state semifinals. That season, Eunice rolled to a 21-0 win over Bastrop to earn back-to-back trips to the 4A championship game. “It is hard to get to this point,” Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair said.

Lady Jays fall to Gueydan

GUEYDAN – The Honey Bears exploded for a 21-5 second-quarter run as Gueydan rallied for a 56-46 win over St. Edmund Tuesday in a non-district clash. The Lady Jays (3-3) opened the game with a 13-9 first quarter advantage.

Bulldogs down Bobcats, 81-71

With the football team heading to the state semifinals, the Bobcats are short-handed on the basketball court. But Eunice (1-3) managed to keep with in striking distance most of the game Tuesday night against Ville Platte (4-1) before the Bulldogs grabbed a 81-71 win.

Bobcats, Bulldogs advance to semis
