Eunice High opened the baseball season with a a 4-0 home victory over David Thibodeaux of Lafayette in a game that highlighted outstanding pitching performances.

St. Edmund jumped out to a 19-2 first quarter lead as the Lady Jays cruised to a 55-21 win over St. Frederick’s in the opening round of the LHSAA Division IV playoffs.
The No. 14 Lady Bobcats and the No. 19 Avoyelles Lady Mustangs literally fought to the last second in the Thursday’s Class 3-A bi-district game held at the Eunice High gym.
IOTA – It was like trying to climb a mountain when the Mamou Lady Demons took to the road to take on perennial powerhouse Iota in the first round of the Class 3A LHSAA playoffs Thursday night.
The annual Perry Pitre Ford baseball jamboree will be held this weekend at both Bobcat Field and Blue Jay Field.
The junior varsity games will be held Friday at both locations.
Eight local teams begin the girls basketball playoffs today with the hopes of beginning the trek to the state tournament in Alexandria.
In Class 3-A, No. 14 Eunice (17-10) will entertain No. 19 Avoyelles (21-9) at 6:30 p.m. today.

When Eunice High’s Brody Gaspard signed his national letter of intent to play football at Louisiana College on Wednesday, he changed from one feline mascot to another.
The Lady Jays earned a key District 4-1A win Tuesday as St. Edmund rolled to a 64-25 victory over Hamilton Christian.
With the win, No. 15 Lady Jays improve to 10-15 overall and 7-6 in district.
The Eunice High School Lady Bobcats improved their overall record to 16-10 overall and district mark to 7-6 with a 38-28 victory over the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers in District 5-3A action at the Eunice High gym.
