East Elementary held its final Super Celebration of the year recently to honor TICK (Totally In Control Kid) students who have achieved excellent behavior for the entire school year.

Missing my friend

I would like to pay tribute and dedicate this column to the late Jean McManus. I first met Ms. Jean, I’m guessing, in 2008 here at work. Ms. Jean had dropped by The Eunice News. I cannot recall the reason why she popped in, but I’m thinking it was to speak to our editor.

Allain, Richard set July wedding date

Johnson is on Centenary College Spring Dean’s List

Teri Johnson, of Eunice, is among 199 Centenary students named to the Dean’s List for Spring 2019. The honor list names all students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in 12 or more semester hours taken for a letter grade during the spring semester.

Summer feeding program underway at Southeast center

Restoring God’s Glory Ministries, Inc., a church located at 301 N. MLK Drive in Eunice, is providing a summer feeding program through July 31. The lunch program is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Southeast Community Center in Eunice. The Southeast Center is located at 101 City Avenue, Eunice.

Vacation Bible School at New Hope Fellowship

New Hope Fellowship held its Vacation Bible School this week with a theme of, “The Incredible Race, One Family, One Race, One Savior.” Children, pre-k through sixth-grade, enjoyed a morning of Bible songs, readings, games, activities, crafts, snacks and much more.

StoryTime hour at the library

Making half moons at the library

Kids used construction paper, stick-on small eye balls, stick on stars, silver glitter cut out stars, cotton balls, and Elmer’s glue to complete a half moon craft during StoryTime hour Wednesday at the library. From left are Joslyn Spekschate and Millie Fontenot, both 7, are designing their craft.

Birth notes

Ava Bishop Heidi and Lance Bishop announce the birth of their daughter, Ava Grace Bishop, born at Acadian Medical Center on May 29 weighing 5 pounds and 6 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Simon and Angela Ducote of Mamou. Paternal grandparents are Terry and Julie Lopez of Elton.
