StoryTime hour at Eunice Public Library

StoryTime hour was held Wednesday morning at the Eunice Public Library with children listening to a reading, making a craft, winning door prizes and taking home a snack. The Summer Reading program theme is "A Universe of Stories." Bobbie Bordelon, children’s librarian.

Creative Placemaking program

Semaine de la Francophonie Creative Placemaking returns to Washington, 5:30 p.m., Thursday at the Historic Washington Art Gallery for the purpose of project work, begun in 2018.

Prairie Acadian Cultural Center hosts photo exhibit

The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center hosts the photographic work of Danny Izzo and Gary Meyers, featuring Louisiana birds and wildlife, now through July 31. Admission to the exhibit and to the center is free and open to the public.

Stevens wins queen title at state pageant

Anastasia Stevens has earned the title of the 2019 National American Miss Louisiana at the state pageant in Baton Rouge. The pageant was held May 30-June 1. Stevens, 11, is the daughter of Will and Monica Stevens of Eunice. She is a seventh grade student at Eunice Jr. High School.

NAUW & ZETA members host Memorial Day breakfast

Members of NAUW-Eunice Branch and ZETA Amicae co-sponsored a breakfast to honor the fallen service men and women of the Armed Forces on May 27. Prior to the breakfast, they held a prayer meeting at Honey Bee Cemetery and placed flags on the graves of relatives there.

TICK super celebration honors students at East

East Elementary held its final Super Celebration of the year recently to honor TICK (Totally In Control Kid) students who have achieved excellent behavior for the entire school year.

VBS held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church

St. Thomas More Catholic Church held its Vacation Bible School this week with children enjoying a theme of “Roar! Life Is Wild. God Is Good.” Children, kindergarten age through sixth grade, participated in Bible songs, readings, stories, games, outdoor game activities, crafts and snacks.

First Baptist Church held its Vacation Bible School this week and will conclude on Friday. This summer’s theme is “In The Wild, Amazing Volunteers With Jesus, John 20:33”.
