Birth Announcements

Asher Cain Blaize and Katie Cain of Opelousas announce the birth of their son, Asher James Cain, born at Acadian Medical Center on Dec. 17 weighing 6 pounds and 4 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Carol Arnaud and Ricky Arnaud of Opelousas and Daniel Mayeux of Grand Coteau.

Donation to Eunice Food Bank

Throughout the holiday season Fruge Lumber solicited donations to the Eunice Food Bank. Customers and employees contributed to fund, Crystal LeJeune, an employee, said. On Dec. 19, LeJeune, left, and Sue Darbonne, right, also a Fruge Lumber employee, delivered a check in the amount of $436.

Mother, two children receive degrees from UL Lafayette

LAFAYETTE — Vanessa Adamson, her daughter Avery and her son Brock made the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Fall 2018 Commencement ceremonies on Friday a family affair. They were each awarded degrees. Vanessa earned a master’s degree in criminal justice.

UL Lafayette awards 1,260 diplomas during Fall Commencement

LAFAYETTE — UL Lafayette held Fall 2018 Commencement ceremonies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on Friday. There were 1,260 graduates who earned degrees during Commencement exercises. Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 1,068 graduates. Master’s degrees were awarded to 172 graduates.

Recycling workshop

Keep Eunice Beautiful, along with John R. Guillory Insurance, partnered with the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center for a recycling workshop 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 during one of the center’s weekly Explore and Restore programs.
