Camellia Garden Stroll scheduled Feb. 19

HAMMOND – The annual Camellia Garden Stroll at the LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station will be held on Feb. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Visitors are invited to stroll through a collection of more than 800 camellias that was planted by Hody Wilson from the 1930s to early 1950s when he was the station superintendent, said Allen Owings, resident coordinator at the station.

‘The Dixie Swim Club’ wins during Irving Awards

The Eunice Players’ Theatre hosted its 47th annual Irving Awards Saturday evening at the Liberty Theater.
The productions honored as part of the 47th season included “The Complete Works Of Shakespeare (Abridged),” “The Dixie Swim Club,” and Agatha Christie’s “Black Coffee.”
Entertainment was provided by dancers from Michelle’s School of Dance. The emcee for the evening was Gabe Ortego.
Racking up the most awards was September’s play, “The Dixie Swim Club,” directed by Jody L. Powell.

This week’s Student of the Week is Olivia Adamson, a senior at Eunice High School. Her mother is Becky Fruge.

If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I want to travel the world. I don’t have one specific place I want to live. I just want to experience the world.

Do you have a career wish? I would like to become a doctor and work with Doctors without Borders.

What could you eat seven days a week? Macaroni and cheese.

What could you never eat? Celery.
