4-H After-school program teaches cooking basics

By Johnny Morgan, jmorgan@agcenter.lsu.edu METAIRIE — Two 4-H volunteers using the Ochsner Health System Cooking-up Healthy Options and Portions (CHOP) program are teaching basic culinary skills and nutrition to 21 students in Jefferson Parish.

Sheryl Cormier at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by Sheryl Cormier & The Cajunettes. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Attention all graduating seniors

Graduation is right around the corner and much is needed ahead of time for the newspaper’s special graduation edition. Eunice High and St. Edmund seniors are to email their senior bios.

Prom season arrives again in Eunice

Did you know proms have been going strong since the late 1800s? Typically St. Edmund and Eunice High celebrate their proms in April. St. Edmund will have its prom on April 7 and Eunice High students will attend prom on April 14.

Pie ‘Pi’ Day at East Elementary

Birth Announcements

Kelsie Jacobs John Jacobs and Elnora Marshall Jacobs of Lafayette announce the birth of their daughter, Kelsie Ann-Marie Jacobs, born at Acadian Medical Center on March 16 weighing 8 pounds and 3.6 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Cindy Xaiver of Eunice and John Marshall Sr. of Texas City, Texas.
