Samedi Gras at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a Samedi Gras with Jambalaya Cajun Band and an appearance by the Basile Mardi Gras Association. The event will be hosted by Barry Ancelet. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m.

Valentine’s Day numbers to know

Valentine’s Day, at the most, is just another day for me. Since I’m single and with no prospects, haha, I celebrate the date just as another day. However, if there is anyone out there, who would like to send me chocolates or flowers, feel free to do so.

Caroline Vienne named St. Landry Parish Student of the Year

Caroline Louise Vienne has been selected as St. Landry Parish Schools’ Eighth-Grade Student of the Year. To be considered for such an honor, Caroline was selected as Eunice Junior High School’s Eighth Grade Student of the Year.

Oberste named Teacher of the Year at Eunice Jr. High

Jackie Oberste has been selected as Eunice Junior High School’s Teacher of the Year. Obserste has been married for the past 10 years to Andrew, who also works for St. Landry Parish as a computer technician. Together they have four children.

It's all about the Weather at East Elementary

KATC TV 3’s weatherman Dave Baker visited East Elementary and was a guest speaker for kindergarten classes. Baker discussed general weather information, in which students had been learning in science. He also discussed weather related safety procedures with them.
