Veterans Day celebration at East Elementary

Veterans Day celebration at Eunice Elementary

A flag raising ceremony was held at Eunice Elementary during Veteran’s Day ceremony on Nov. 10. The VFW Post 8971 members conducted the flag ceremony by Donald Estillette presenting the proper way to fold and display the flag.

3 Cajuns & Leroy at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature a performance by 3 Cajuns & Leroy. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3. Children, 6, and under, admission is free.

Foods from the first Thanksgiving

Turkey was not a common Thanksgiving meat at the very first Thanksgiving celebration. After reading the following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, I have learned and found some interesting facts about the first Thanksgiving meal. In fact, turkey wasn’t common Thanksgiving fare until after 1800.
