Reindeer and caribou

I had no clue what a caribou was, however, after reading the following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, I now have a clearer understanding that a caribou is similar to a reindeer, but in some cases not so alike. Reindeer are symbols of the holiday season.

Class Act Student of the Week

This week’s Student of the Week is Jase Francis Frank, a sixth grader at Central Middle School. His parents are Fallon Goodly and Francis Frank III. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to live in Florida. Do you have a career wish?

Red Hatters Christmas Social

A Red Hat wine and cheese party was held recently at the home of Barbara Wells of Eunice. Hostesses for the event were Barbara Wells, Pris Duplechin, Shirley Miller, Ching Wasmuth and Mary Ann Sonnier. The 15 women who attended the festivities enjoyed tasting, conversation and Christmas cheer.

Top Accelerated readers at East Elementary

Two students at East Elementary were recently recognized for earning 25 points during their Accelerated Reading. Caden Schoeffler, left, is a fourth-grade student in Annetta Papillion’s class and Rickey Fontenot, a fourth grader, is in Courtney Bergeaux’s class.

Birth Announcements

Brooklyn Dupre Danny Dupre and Brandi Darbonne of Richard announce the birth of their daughter, Brooklyn Layne Dupre, born at Acadian Medical Center on Dec. 10 weighing 6 pounds and 3.4 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Nelwyne and Emeze Darbonne of Eunice.

New at Central Middle School, 'Navigating Futures'

Something new is happening at Central Middle School, “Navigating Futures at Central.” Navigating Futures’ purpose and intentions is to create an increased “camaradie” among students and staff in promoting “buy-in” and building social and academic capacity for increased self-esteem.

EHS painting with kids senior project

Eunice High School seniors Brooke Fourroux, left, Hannah Andrus and Victoria Paige Fontenot held their senior project on Dec. 3 inside the high school cafeteria. Each participant was asked to bring three can goods to be donated to the Eunice Food Bank.

Tenant at Goodhope Place Apartments wins first place

Goodhope Place Apartments would like to congratulate Penny Joubert on becoming the first place winner of the door decorating contest held on Dec. 13. The contest was judged by Eunice City Marshal Terry Darbonne and his secretary Misty Credeur.
