Railroad crossing safety stressed

A Union Pacific Railroad locomotive crossed back and forth across Eunice for about two hours on Tuesday to educate police officers about crossing safety. “The main purpose of this is education,” said Josh Guillory, senior special agent for the railroad’s police department.

School Board ready to ‘close out’ suit over school fight

The St Landry Parish School Board meeting ended Thursday with a vote to follow the recommendation of its attorney, Courtney Joiner, in regard to a lawsuit filed that states a principal forced two students to fight in August 2023.

Parish sales tax collections up 12% over last year

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections through June are up 12% over the same period in 2023, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division.

The former Moosa Memorial Hospital is slowing disappearing as a St. Landry Parish Government crew demolishes the hospital that has been vacant since 2006. St.

Genovese is finalist for Northwestern president

A non-traditional applicant with the backing of Gov. Jeff Landry and two others were named finalists to be the next president of Northwestern State University.
