There is plenty of time today to drop by the 32nd annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off. The Cook-off is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Northwest Pavilion, 651 Samuel Dr., Eunice.

Scholarship memorial for LSUE educator Couvillion

A scholarship is planned for the longtime LSUE professor and administrator Dr. John L. Couvillion, who died March 15 at the age of 75. Couvillion’s obituary in The Eunice News stated, “Dr. Couvillion devoted his life to God, family and LSUE.

LSUE statement confirms softball team incident

An anonymous report of an incident involving the LSUE softball team was, in part, confirmed in a statement from Van Reed, LSUE director of public relations. ”LSU Eunice has been made aware of an incident involving members of the Lady Bengal Softball team at an off-campus location.

Hospital transfer raises complaint

St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontneot is expecting a judicial decision within days on the validity of the dissolution of the hospital district that had governed St. Luke Hospital in Arnaudville. Fontenot said he authorized Adams and Reese, the firm that drafted the ordinances for both St.

Election day is Saturday

Topping the ballot in Saturday’s election is a three-day race for 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal. Candidates are Vanessa Waguespack Anseman, Susan Theal and Candyce Perret. They are all Republicans. In Basile, voters will decide between LaToya Howze and Darrell Reed for the District 1 alderman’s seat.

Bragging rights are on the line at Crawfish Etouffeé Cook-off

The 32nd annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Northwest Pavilion, 651 Samuel Dr., Eunice. Admission is free for a day of music by Coz Fontenot, Paul Daigle and Cajun Gold, and Jamie Bergeron & Kickin Cajuns.
