Nominees sought for Rotary award The Eunice Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2017 Eunice Administrative Professional of the Year. The winner will receive a free trip to Branson, Missouri, courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.

Church Point council OKs hiring dispatcher, reserve officer

The Church Point City Council unanimously approved the hiring of Patricia Ann Citizen as a part time dispatcher and Michael Benoit as a part time police reserve officer at the April 3 meeting.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony at Goodwill

The Eunice Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Goodwill GoodBUYS Clearance Outlet at 2360 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice, on Thursday. A customer appreciation day was held at the store, which is open form 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

St. Landry Parish school employees attend conference

Members of the St. Landry Federation of Teachers attended the annual Louisiana Federation of Teachers Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel Conference, held on April 1 at the Baton Rouge Crowne Plaza Hotel. The annual PSRP Conference recognizes the contributions of school support staff.

Pre-kindergarten registration dates set All Eunice public schools will be have pre-kindergarten signup now through May 18 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 30 in order to qualify for the pre-K program.

Acadia Parish School Board to seek property tax renewals

The Acadia Parish School Board’s April meeting agenda was light and dashed through Monday night. With all but one member present – Rev. James Proctor – the board’s unanimous votes of 7-0 approved nine items in its routine items.

A Chat-A-While Social & Civic Club holding raffle for scholarship

The Chat-A-While Social and Civic Club will raffle three Easter Mega baskets, a 32-inch TV, microwave, and a 26-inch Cruizer bicycle with all proceeds to go to the Geraldine Brown Memorial Scholarship. Geraldine Brown was one of the first custodians at LSUE.
