Iota Volunteer Fire Department dedicates new truck

The Iota Volunteer Fire Department held a dedication ceremony June 10 for its new rescue truck. The ceremony was held at the Volunteer Fire Department on South First Street, and the community was invited to attend.

More security now needed at Vermilion school meetings

Security has now tripled at Vermilion Parish School Board meetings over the last five years. Five years ago there was no need for security. Two years ago one security officer was added. At the next board meeting, there is expected to be three security officers on location.

Payment plan reached to fix tax error

A state tax error is costing St. Landry Parish Government $300,000 that it must pay to Grand Coteau in payments through February 2023. Video poker revenue that the state was supposed to send to the town of Grand Coteau ended up being paid to St.
