Man seeks clemency in Eunice murder

A Eunice man convicted of second-degree murder in 1996 is applying to the state Board of Pardons for clemency. Jarred Lanclow was sentenced to life without the benefit of parole when he was convicted of second-degree murder in the January, 1996, shooting death of Chad Doucet, 20, of Church Point.

Alternating lane closures on La. 13 north I-10

There will be alternating lane closures on La. 13 about 0.9 miles north of Interstate 10 on March 8 for routine bridge inspections, weather permitting. The work is estimated to take place from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., weather permitting.

Kenneth Wayne Dexter, a resident of Sugarland, Texas and native of Eunice, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday Feb. 5, 2019 at the age of 68.

A dispute over the sale of puppies resulted in shots being fired in the air and the arrest of a Eunice man who said he was protecting his family, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
