The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Feb. 27 Chris Jude Sonnier, 49, 500 block of Joe W. Road, Church Point. Theft. Juan Grimaldo, 34, homeless. Theft and possession of Schedule II drugs less than two grams. Emerald Joyanna Williams, 21, 500 block of Bernice, Eunice.

Yard Bird Cook-off headed to 2nd year

St. Landry-Evangeline United Way invites the public to experience Cajun Cooking at its finest with the second annual Comme Ci, Comme Ca Yard Bird Cook-off in downtown Opelousas from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 13. Admission is free.

Lessie Lee Fontenot

Eunice-With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Lessie Lee Fontenot on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the age of 90, from Eunice Manor Nursing Home. Born in Mamou and lived most of his life in Eunice, he retired from Halliburton Services after 32 years of service.

Acadia Parish leaders to present ‘State of the Parish’

The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2019 State of the Parish Address bringing together Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson, Acadia Parish Police Jury President David Savoy and Acadia Parish School Board Superintendent Scott Richard.

Annual Parade of Paws set March 2 The third annual Parade of Paws will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday on South 2nd Street. Costumes are required. One can pre-register their pup at the Mayor’s office and Holly’s Hobbies. All proceeds will benefit animals in need in Eunice.

Suspect robs, assaults clerk at Subway

Sunset Police need help in locating the suspect involved in an armed robbery and sexual assault in Sunset, according to St. Landry Crime Stoppers. Just before 9 p.m. Feb. 22, Sunset Police received a call in reference to an armed robbery of the Subway located on Oak Tree Park Drive.
