Crime Stoppers seeks information about Washington burglary

St Landry Crime Stoppers is asking for help in locating the suspect involved in a burglary in Washington. On Jan. 12, deputies were dispatched to 4035 Highway 359, Washington, for a burglary of a residence. On Jan. 11, surveillance cameras were able to capture two black male suspects at the home.

Jobless rates decrease, workforce increases

The Tri-Parish employment picture brightened at the end of 2017 as jobless rates were down from a year ago and workforce numbers increased, according to a report from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Taster’s Choice entry deadline extended

The deadline to enter the Taster’s Choice fundraiser has been extended to Friday. The eighth annual Taster’s Choice fundraiser for the Eunice Community Health Center is scheduled 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 7 at the LSUE Acadian Center.

Woman shot in Mamou

At approximately 11 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene of a shooting that happened earlier in the night at the W.C. Read Fire Station located south of Mamou.

Samuel W. Martin, age 94 of Ephrata, fulfilled the desire of his heart as he passed from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Fairmount Homes following a short illness. He was born in Voganville on January 22, 1924, to the late Samuel S.
