A change in requirements for civil service board members was approved by a vote of three to one during the Ville Platte Fire and Police Civil Service Board meeting on Monday.
Sixty-three young ladies have worn the title of Queen Cotton during the time of the Louisiana Cotton Festival. For the latest of which, the title is a dream come true.
“Of course having my number called to be Queen Cotton was the most memorable day,” exclaimed Queen Cotton LXIII Haley Jett.

The Church Point Police Dept. has confirmed two shootings in Church Point Friday.
The shootings were separate events.
The shootings were not at the schools, but the middle school and Head Start are on lockdown.
