Six of the 64 high school students enrolled in the LSUE Academy were introduced at the St. Landry Parish School Board meeting Thursday. LSUE Chancellor Kimberly Russell explained that the LSUE Academy is about six weeks old and has 22 students from St. Landry Parish public schools.

Zaunbrecher selected as 81st Rice Festival Junior Farmer of the Year

The 81st International Rice Festival will recognize Michael Paul Zaunbrecher as the 2017 Junior Farmer of the Year. Zaunbrecher is the 19 year-old son of John Lawrence and Leslie Soileau Zaunbrecher of Mowata. He has three brothers, John, Douglas, and Phillip and one sister, Adrienne Z. Fontenot.
