Gov. Edwards Issues executive order suspending all prescribed burns  

On Friday, Gov. John Bel Edwards signed an executive order suspending all prescribed burns in Louisiana including those used for forest, agricultural and coastal land management as the state continues to battle hundreds of fires throughout Louisiana due to the extreme drought.

Sex offenders are classed into three tiers of risk

Wood fire near Church Point

Area firefighters fought a timber fire on about 80 acres off La. 358 and Houston Richard Road on Thursday. About 20 firefighers and at least half dozen vehicles were involved in fighting the fire in 100-plus heat. Fire District 3 Capt.

Is there a bright side to the heat?

If there is a bright side to the seemingly endless 100-plus degree days is the summer grass cutting probably ended. And, there is one person who probably knows more than anyone in Eunice about grass-cutting and that’s Robert Johnson, recreation director.
