Bobcats roll past Breaux Bridge

BREAUX BRIDGE – The Eunice Bobcats improved to 2-0 on the season with a 30-0 win over Breaux Bridge in a game that was moved to Wednesday night because of the approach of Hurricane Delta.

NEW IBERIA – The approaching Hurricane Delta forced St. Edmund’s game at Highland Baptist to be cancelled this week. “We wanted to play Wednesday night because it looked like school was going to be closed Thursday and Friday,” St. Ed’s head coach James Shiver said.

Lady Cats grab win

The Lady Bobcats improved to 4-2 on the season with a 3-1 win over Crowley. In the first set, Crowley jumped out for a 5-1 lead before consecutive spikes by Gabrielle Mitchell helped Eunice close the gap to 5-3. The Lady Cats later tied the game 6-6 on a dink by Sophie Vidrine and a CHS error.

Avoyelles slips past Blue Jays

MOREAUVILLE – The Blue Jays battled to a 14-14 tie at the half, but Avoyelles rallied for a 36-29 win over St. Edmund in the season opener. The Blue Jays started near midfield on their opening possession, but the St. Edmund offense was stopped on fourth down at the Mustang 30.

Bobcats cruise to record win

The Bobcats opened the Andre Vige era with a school record over Ville Platte. Eunice set the school record for points as the Bobcats cruised to a 74-0 win over the Bulldogs. EHS exploded for 42 points in the fourth quarter last season to beat Northwest 73-24.

Blue Jays visit Avoyelles

St. Edmund opens the season with three straight roads games, a tough test for the Blue Jays. “It is exciting that we will get to play this season,” second-year head coach James Shiver said. “As a team we have set a goal to compete for a district championship,” he said.

Bobcats face Bulldogs in opener

After seeing their season delayed a month, the Bobcats will entertain the Ville Platte Bulldogs Friday night. “The guys are very excited,” EHS head coach Andre Vige said. “They are anxious but they are ready for Fridy night.
