Bobcat duo heads to next level

For the past four years they have been together on the football and baseball fields, but after graduation they are heading in different directions. Austin Phillips is heading to LSU Eunice to play baseball, while Tyler Darbonne plans to be a tight end for the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

Bobcats down Red Devils, 14-3

PORT BARRE – The Eunice High Bobcats claimed a 14-3 victory over the Port Barre Red Devils in District 3A baseball action Thursday at Red Devil Park.

Eunice rolls in tennis win

The Eunice High tennis team swept St. Edmund and tied Oakdale in a recent round robin at the Fairgrounds tennis complex. Against St. Edmund, Eunice earned a 4-0 win. In boys doubles, Zach Joubert and Ting Jiang rolled to an 8-1 win over St. Ed’s Pierson Brown and Ross Fontenot.

Blue Jays rally for win

Merryville jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, but the Blue Jays then went on a 16-0 run as St. Edmund rallied for the District 4-1A win. The Panthers (7-12, 0-3) took advantage of two walks, a hit batter and three Blue Jay errors to take the five-run lead.

All-District 4-1A team released

St. Edmund placed four players on the 4-1A All-District team. Hamilton Christian and Grand Lake dominated the list after Zion Stewart and Michael Thomas from Hamilton Christian head the first team, along with Grand Lake’s Kael Delcambre and Luke McCordle.

Bobcat trio signs with Bayou Prep

The chance to continue their football careers came Tuesday when Eunice High seniors Avrey Lee, Jordan Ledet and Carlin Vigers signed with the Bayou Prep Gators. “It is really a blessing to get this opportunity,” Lee, the All-District first team linebacker, said.

Blue Jays grab wins

St. Edmund started the week strong with wins over Sacred Heart of Ville Platte and District 4-1A foe Oberlin. Against the Tigers, the Blue Jays (14-6) exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first and held on for a 15-10 win.

Bobcats sweep Bears

In the first game of a double-header in District 5-3A competition between the Church Point High Bears and the Eunice High Bobcats, the Bobcats prevailed with a 16-1 victory at Bobcat Field.

All-District 5-3A team released

Eunice High placed four players on the 2019 All-District 5-3A basketball team. Northwest’s Chester Randall was named the District 5-3A Coach of the Year as the Raiders finished with a 12-2 district record.

White signs with LSUE

Eunice High stand-out Stacie White will continue her basketball career at LSU Eunice as the Lady Bobcat senior signed her national letter of intent Thursday. “It feels great to get this opportunity to play at the higher level,” White said. “It is all good.
