Blue Jays stun Hanson, 53- 34

FRANKLIN – It was a win to remember Wednesday night as No. 22 St. Edmund stunned No. 11 Hanson Memorial 53-34 in the opening round of the LHSAA Division IV playoffs St. Edmund (4-21) will now travel to No. 6 Vermilion Catholic for regional round contest set for 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Lady Cats hold tourney

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats will hold the Eunice Invitational softbal tournament this weekend. Friday’s games will be held at the Eunice Recreation Complex on Sittig Road, while the Saturday contest will he played at Lady Bobcat Field. The tournament begins at 3:30 p.m.

LCA ends Lady Jays’ season

LAFAYETTE – The No. 16 Lady Jays knew the challenge ahead of them when they faced top-seed Lafayette Christian Academy Monday in the regional round of the LHSAA Division IV girls basketball playoffs.

Westlake downs Lady Bobcats

WESTLAKE – The Lady Bobcats’ basketball season ended Thursday as Westlake grabbed a 67-52 win over Eunice High. The Lady Rams (17-9)jumped out to a 2-19 first quarter, sparked by 11 points from Jada Gassaway.

Lady Jays advance to regionals

It was a feisty finish as St. Edmund battled to a 45-32 win over rival Sacred Heart of Ville Platte Thursday in the opening round of the LHSAA Division IV girls basketball playoffs. The No. 16 Lady Jays (11-17) travel to No. 1 seed Lafayette Christian Academy (29-5) for a 6:30 p.m.

Blue Jays, Bobcats host Perry Pitre Ford jamboree

The annual Perry Pitre Ford baseball jamboree will be held this weekend at both Bobcat and Blue Jay fields. The junior varsity/freshman jamboree will be held Friday, while the varsity squads will square off on Saturday.

Girls basketball playoffs begin

The girls basketball playoffs begin today with several local teams fighting to advance to the LHSAA state championships to be held Feb.25 to March 2 at Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria. In Division IV, No. 16 St. Edmund (10-17) will emtertain rival No. 17 Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (8-16) at 6 p.

Bobcats battle on Senior Night

It was battle between rivals as the Bobcats faced the Raiders with 10 Eunice High seniors playing in front of the home crowd for the final time this season. Northwest jumped out to an early lead, but Eunice High rallied to take a seven-point advantage into the final period.

Lady Cats close district with win

MAMOU – The Eunice Lady Bobcats closed District 5-3A competition with a 48-37 victory over the Mamou Lady Demons. The LHSAA will release the playoff brackets on Monday. Presently the Lady Cats (16-11) are No. 16 in the Class 3-A power rankings.

Lady Bobcat White shines on Senior Night

It was Lady Bobcats’ Senior Night and Stacie White responded with 33 points to help Eunice High earn a 48-29 victory over Port Barre Friday night. White did all the scoring for the Lady Cats in the first quarter with nine points.
