Tri-Parish workforce holds steady

The workforce counts in St. Landry and Evangeline parishes declined in July compared to a year ago, according to data released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. But the Tri-Parish workforce count declined by 34 to 68,981 in July compared to a year ago.

Chataignier police chief gets raise

The Chataignier Village Council meeting, held Aug. 19 devolved into free-for-all discussions on topics ranging from pay raises for the chief of police and the village clerk to security concerns over the drug rehabilitation center located in the village.

Parish Council reconsiders public hearing procedure

Public hearings have recently extended the meeting time by about two hours for the St. Landry Parish Council. “I think it has become necessary that we consider putting something into place where we don’t deal with more than four ordinances per meeting,” said Council member Mildred Thierry.
