5,000-plus voted early

Early voting in St. Landry Parish ended Saturday with 5,447 votes cast, down from 5,802 cast in the 2019 election, which included a governor’s race. The parish’s early voting total included 4,144 in-person votes and 1,303 absentee votes.

Loitering ordinance approved

An ordinance to prohibit loitering in Eunice was approved by the Board of Aldermen Tuesday. Unanimous approval came after Paul Feavel, a resident of South 2nd Street, described an intoxicated environment in Eunice’s downtown during public comments.

Retirees honored at St. Landry Parish School Board meeting

Retirees were honored at the St. Landry Parish School Board meeting on Thursday. Among the honorees were Larhonda Simpson and Daniel Soileau. Simpson, in the photo at right, is retiring as a special education teacher from Eunice High School after 32 years of service.
