Take precautions for coming arctic blast

It’s official — winter is here! And with it comes many questions about protecting landscape plants, pipes and pets during the cold months of December, January and February. According to the National Weather Service, a considerable change in the temperatures can be expected by Friday and Saturday.

4 condemnations approved

Four condemnations were approved by the Eunice Board of Aldermen at their Tuesday meeting. Three other properties are on their way for Show Cause hearings next month. The Show Cause is to decide on condemnation. Approved for condemnation were: — 241 E. Oak Ave.

Fontenot earns district honor

Mitch Fontenot, principal at Eunice High School, is named the 2022-2023 District High School Principal of the Year. Fontenot, no stranger to receiving recognition, was named a state semi-finalist for Louisiana Principal of the Year in 2021.

Christmas Triad party held

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office held its annual Triad Christmas party for senior citizens at the Yambilee in Opelousas on Dec. 7. “We also honored our veterans who were in attendance and those who lost their lives in the bombing of Pearl Harbor,” Guidroz stated in a news release.

Christmas parade is today

The Eunice Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Christmas Parade of Lights beginning at 6 p.m. today. The parade will begin on North 2nd Street, will continue on 2nd, and Park Avenue, and will end near S. 9th Street.
