Constitutional admendments on the Nov. 8 ballot

In addition to the various state, regional and municipal elections, voters face a hefty lift this year, asked to consider 11 proposed amendments to the Louisiana Constitution. Though it’s not a record number, the list of amendments was long enough that lawmakers split them across the Nov. 8 and Dec.

Eunice News to publish names of locals owed money by state

Next Thursday in The Eunice News, you’ll find a list of St. Landry Parish residents owed money by the state of Louisiana. The state currently has millions of dollars it wants to return to its rightful owner, but first it has to locate those to whom money is owed, according to State Treasurer John M.

Keep Eunice Beautiful earns Circle of Excellence award

Keep Eunice Beautiful earned a $500 cash award and a plaque as a Circle of Excellence chapter during the Keep Louisiana Beautiful state conference. The award is based on several factors such as conducting litter cleanup events and participating with Keep Louisiana Beautiful.

Political candidates make their case at Eunice political forum

Candidates in seven local races participated in the Eunice Chamber of Commerce political forum held Tuesday at LSUE. The Chamber and LSUE Student Government Association sponsored the forum moderated by Van Reed, St. Landry Parish Emergency Preparedness director and public information officer.

Residential trash pickup problems seem to be easing

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said on Tuesday it appears residential trash pickup service problems are easing. Phone calls and social media reports of problems were dying out especially after a rocky first two weeks of service by Bayou State Waste. Bayou State began service at the first of October.

2nd Chance Job Fair set for Tuesday The Louisiana Workforce Commission in conjunction with Department of Corrections and St. Landry Parish Government will present a 2nd Chance Job Fair.

Information sought for annual tribute to veterans

The Eunice News will honor area veterans in a special edition. Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11. This is the fourth year for the tribute to veterans. Veterans may update or add information to previously submitted material. Biographical information about local veterans is requested.

Political forum is Tuesday

The Eunice Chamber of Commerce and the LSUE Student Government Association (SGA) are co-hosting the 2022 Political Forum. The forum will be held in the Health/Science Technology Auditorium on the LSUE Campus beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with a meet and greet. Refreshments will be available.

I am happy to formally announce my candidacy for Alderman of Ward 4 in Eunice. With the upcoming election on Nov. 8, 2022, I am running to be your elected public servant for Ward 4. I was born and raised in Eunice, attended Eunice High School, and joined the Navy.
