Bobcats, Bears collide

Heading in to the Church Point game last year, the Bobcats had a 1-3 record. Not many expected Eunice to begin the 2018 season 4-0 with wins over Opelousas (53-36), Jennings (33-23), Rayne (36-14) and Crowley (36-32). “We exceeded what we thought was possible,” EHS head coach Paul Trosclair said.

Blue Jays shut out Bearcats

BASILE – It all started with a 30-minute lightning delay just prior to the kickoff between the Blue Jays and the Bearcats. It finished with the thunder of the St. Edmund defense earning a 14-0 shutout over No. 10 Basile in the District 4-1A opener.

Bobcats rally for win over Gents

CROWLEY – The Eunice High Bobcats improved their record to 4-0 with a 36-32 victory over the Crowley High Gents in District 5-3A action here Thursday night.

Blue Jays invade Bearcat territory

Basile – St. Edmund. That’s all that needs to be said as the Blue Jays visit rival Basile Friday night. There will be chants of “Bearcat boudin” and “Blue Jay gumbo” all game as two teams for the upper hand in the District 4-1A opener. The series started in 1961 and was played every year until 2009.

Bobcats open district against Crowley Gents

Eunice is undefeated after three weeks as the Bobcat nation celebrated wins over Opelousas, Jennings and Rayne. “It is a pleasant surprise to see us at 3-0,” Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair said after the Bobcats opened the 2017 season 1-4.

Pine Prairie blows past Beau Chene to pick up first win

BEAU CHENE -- The Pine Prairie Panthers trounced the Beau Chene Gators 34-7 in a highly physical brawl to pick up their first win after a rough start to the season. The Panthers improve to 1-2 on the year and will host Church Point Friday night in their first district game of the season.

North Vermilion falls to Ascension

Coach Matt Desormeaux’s Ascension Episcopal Blue Gator took momentum from a 95-yard drive and opted to go for the win instead of overtime Friday night here at Patriots Stadium. And boy did the gamble pay off.

GUEYDAN - Could history be in the making at Gueydan High School this football season? The Bears have improved to 3-0 after crushing South Cameron, 34-0, in a Thursday night game in Gueydan.

Vermilion Catholic handles Erath

The VC Eagles beat parish rival, the Erath’s Bobcats, 34-11, on Friday. The Eagles got down 3-0 when Erath scored on its first possession. But, only giving up three points sent a message that scoring was not going to come easy against VC’s defense.
