VC earns sweep over St. Edmund

In the final non-district clash of the year, St. Edmund was swept by Vermilion Catholic. The Lady Eagles exploded for an 11-2 first quarter run as VC cruised to a 56-29 win over the Lady Jays. Anne Katherine Gallet led the Lady Eagles with eight points, while Kelli Frith added three free throws.

Iota runs past Lady Cats

The Eunice High School Lady Bobcats struggled to keep pace with the Iota High School Lady Bulldogs in District 5-3A basketball action at the Bobcat gym Thursday night, eventually falling to the Lady Bulldogs by a 65-34 margin.

Lady Cats split games in parish tourney

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats were unable to overcome a weak first quarter as they suffered a 61-40 loss to the North Central Lady Hurricanes Friday in the second round of the St. Landry Parish basketball tournament.

BASILE – The two defenses dominated the game as Opelousas Catholic grabbed a 38-33 win the St. Edmund Lady Jays in the Basile basketball tournament. The Lady Vikings (7-1) opened with a 15-10 first quarter lead, sparked by four points each from Alyssa David and Danielle Leblanc.

Parish tourney tips off today

Eunice High will play host for the 2017 St. Landry Parish basketball tournament that tips off today at the Bobcat gym. Defending champions Northwest Lady Raiders and the Opelousas High Tigers are the top seeds entering the tournament and will receive first round byes.
