Dogs blank Gents

Brett Spell was masterful on the mound and Iota’s offense was just as impressive Tuesday in the Bulldogs’ 10-0 District 5-3A victory over the Crowley High Gents. With the victory, Iota ran its win streak to 13 straight and is now 17-3 overall and 5-0 in league play.

Blue Jays earn win over Tarpons

GRAND CHENIER – The Blue Jays earned a key District 4-1A road win Tuesday as St. Edmund rolled to a 13-2 mercy-rule victory over South Cameron.

Lady Jays cruise to win

MERRYVILLE – The Lady Jays exploded for eight runs in the top of the third inning and added five more in the fourth frame as St. Edmund cruised to a 13-3 win over Merryville. With the win, S. Edmund (13-10 overall, 6-1 in District 4-1A) clinched at least a share of the district title.

5-3A All-District team named

Three Eunice Bobcats were named to the 5-3A All-District Boys Basketball Team as selected by league coaches. Josh Burnett of Crowley was named District MVP, while Gent coach Jason Lewis was voted the District Coach of the Year.

Lady Jays roll past Oberlin

St. Edmund stayed in the hunt for the District 4-1A title as the Lady Jays cruised to an 11-2 win over Oberlin. The Lady Tigers (5-13, 2-3) scored two runs in the top of the first inning, begun when Alison Fontenot singled and scored when Haley Perkins reached on an error.

Bobcats cruise to 19-6 win

CROWLEY – The Eunice High Bobcats improved their season record to 13-6 with a 19-6 victory over the Crowley High Gents in District 5-3A play at Miller Stadium. The win gives the coach Scott Phillips’ Bobcats a sweep of the two-game series.

Lady Dogs down Mamou, 6-5

MAMOU – The Lady Bulldogs scored a run in the top of the sixth as Iota earned a 6-5 victory over Mamou on Thursday. Iota (15-6, 5-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, begun when Makenzie Droddy reached on an error and scored on a double by Peyton DuBose.

Lady Bears rally past Lady Cats

In a battle between District 5-3A softball rivals, Eunice and Church Point fought to the finish as the Lady Bears earned a 10-8 victory. Church Point (4-15, 3-6) scored first when Hailee Doucet walked, stole second and third and then crossed home plate on a single by Lindsi Meche.

Trojans down Jays
