Blue Jays fall in playoffs

Fontenot signs with LSU Shreveport

Eunice High senior Gunner Fontenot signed on Monday to continue his baseball career at LSU-Shreveport. Fontenot, who has been selected to play in the LHSAA All-Star Game in May, is expected to catch for LSU-S next season according to LSU-Shreveport head coach Brent Lavalee.

Demons, Dogs and Bears win in opening game of playoffs

Bobcats blast past Tigers

Eunice High opened the Class 3A state playoffs with a 15-1 victory over the Marksville High Tigers in a contest played Monday at Bobcat Field.

Lady Cats - six in a row

With a margin of 18 points, the Eunice Lady Bobcats won the 2017 District 5-3A championship, their sixth straight district title. Eunice scored 152 points, followed by Church Point (134), Ville Platte (130), Northwest (69), Port Barre (27) and Pine Prairie (8).

The annual regular season-ending contest between the St. Edmund Blue Jays and the Eunice High Bobcats produced an offensive explosion for both teams and a nightmare for pitchers as the two teams combined to score 36 runs and bang out 35 hits as the Bobcats rallied late to claim a 20-16 victory.

Lady Jays fall in playoffs

After a first-round bye, St. Edmund fell 10-0 to Ascension Catholic Wednesday in the LHSAA Division IV softball playoffs. The Lady Bulldogs (14-11) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second, which proved to be enough to preserve the win.
