Assistant Brown promoted to Eunice High volleyball head spot

By Rhett Manuel Sports Editor When former head volleyball coach Wayne Fontenot’s departure from Eunice High for Class 5A’s Acadiana High in Lafayette Parish to become that school’s head volleyball coach became public last week, it wasn’t a shock.

EMTL finishes spring season

The Eunice Men’s Tennis League’s completed its spring season. Team Moosa finished in first place, with Team Ashford in second, Team Pitre took third place, and Team D’Aubin placed fourth. In the Championship game, Teams Moosa and Ashford fought it out.
The ELTL (Eunice Ladies Tennis League) held its Spring Season tennis banquet Tuesday evening with team members attending. The winning team, The Pitre Sisters, won the season and were awarded T-shirts. Door prizes and an evening meal of boiled crawfish were enjoyed. The captains of the winning team were Bonnie P. There are few, if any, coaches in the state of Louisiana that are wired like new St. Edmund head baseball coach Casey Charlie. The Eunice native, a 2007 graduate of Eunice High, hasn’t changed his stripes in 11 years of teaching and coaching. He’s loyal. He’s standard-driven.

District, region teams reflect Blue Jay, Bobcat talent

When it comes to accolades, one can make the argument that a team that isn’t an all-state team can sometimes mean more. In teams like All-District and All-Region, there is a better chance that players are actually seen by the people making the decisions rather than by a stat line.
