Bearcats ready to rebound

BASILE – No one in Bearcat country was happy with Basile’s 3-8 finish last football season. The Bearcats had three straight quarterfinal appearances were 31-5 from 2013 to 2015. Basile head coach Kevin Bertrand is entering his fourth season with the Bearcats and is confident his team will win again.

Iota Bulldogs ready for winning season

IOTA – The Iota footbal team has survived 0-10, 1-9 and 2-8 seasons the last three years. Third year head coach Josh Andrus is counting on the return of 13 starters to help his Bulldogs improve in 2017. “Last year I felt we were ready heading into the season,” the coach said.

Local teams ready for new districts

Every two years, the LHSAA makes changes in the districts and this time it affected both the St. Edmund and Eunice High athletic programs. For the past two years, St. Edmund was with False River Academy, Catholic High of Pointe Coupee, Westminster Christian Academy, North Central and Basile.
