OPELOUSAS – The Vikings proved worthy of their rankings as Opelousas Catholic rolled to a 35-6 win over St. Edmund Thursday in the District 5-1A opener for both teams.
The Blue Jays stopped Ville Platte on a two-point conversion in 29 seconds left in the game as St. Edmund earned a 35-33 win over Ville Platte.
The start was delayed for nearly two hours because of lightning in the area.
After a two-hour weather delay, Eunice High cruised to a 33-7 homecoming win over the Abbeville Wildcats.
St. Edmund ends its non-district part of the season Friday when the Blue Jays entertain the Ville Platte Bulldogs.
“It is important for us to enter district on a high note with a win,” St. Edmund head coach James Shiver said.
After seven turnovers in a 28-15 loss to Breaux Bridge, Eunice High head coach Paul Trosclair said there wasn’t much need to watch the film.
